Built in the 1860s by founder Karl Schwarz in the 19th-century "Gründerstil" style and opened under the name Österreichischer Hof in 1866. Even at that time, it was something very special: It was – and remains – the only historic Grand Hotel in Sbg.

Opened in 1866, the privately owned Hotel Sacher Salzburg is a grand, historic hotel which combines timeless elegance and tradition with highest standard of service. It is centrally located on the banks of the Salzach River with magnificent and unique views of the historic old town and Hohensalzburg Fortress. Free Wi-Fi is available in the entire hotel.

All rooms and suites are furnished in an individual fashion and offer state-of-the-art facilities. Furnishings include original paintings and silk wallpapers. All rooms offer air conditioning, a minibar, and bathrobes.

The restaurant Zirbelzimmer, whose wooden panelling and elaborately carved ceilings are unique in Salzburg, is a popular meeting place for gourmets. Restaurant Roter Salon is located on the footpath along the Salzach River and offers beautiful views of the old town and restaurant Salzachgrill serves barbecue specialties.

The famous Café Sacher Salzburg serves the original Sacher cake in a typical Austrian coffee house ambience with an elegant touch. Sacher Bar serves a wide range of drinks accompanied by live piano music.
