Sleep in a forest of chocolate trees. Discreetly tucked away in a quiet bay, La Loma Jungle Lodge and Chocolate Farm is designed to bring guests comfortably closer to the natural environment and communities of the island of Bastimentos. La Loma’s 23 hectares stretch up from the mangrove shores of Bahia Honda, through tropical forest, groves of cacao (chocolate), banana, and coconut to one of the highest points on Bastimentos Island.
We’ve handmade only 4 ranchos, each inconspicuously sited in the lush jungle. Using vernacular architecture and sustainably sourced materials, the beautiful simple retreats blur the boundaries between inside and out. Each rancho has a private bathroom with a hot water shower, comfortable beds with enormous canopy mosquito nets, overhead fans and furniture crafted on-site from local materials. Breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks are included in the cost of your stay and our organic gardens supply many of the ingredients for our meals. Food is a huge part of any visit to La Loma and we are dedicated to the innovative use of local products and traditional recipes. Chocolate in its many diverse and delicious forms features at every meal.

Offering views of the sea, La Loma Jungle Lodge and Chocolate Farm is located in Isla Bastimentos, 10 km from Bocas Town. This property is dedicated to the sustainability and care of the environment and local communities.

Property offers Tours of the organic chocolate farm for free to guests. La Loma can also organize snorkeling trips to the Zapatillas and jungle hikes.

Accessible only by boat, La Loma is nestled the mangrove shores of the Bahia Honda Bay stretching through the tropical jungle. We provide trips to Red Frog beach which is 10 minutes away. Boat ride to and from Isla Colon for check in and check out dates is included. The area is popular for bird watching, kayak, snorkelling and hiking.
