Our chalet was first built in the early 1800s, and used to be the home in which priest Aimé Gorret lived before he climbed the Matterhorn on 17.07.1865 for the first time ever on the Italian side. His amazing accomplishment opened the valley and Cervinia to the world and determined it becoming a worldwide famous resort for skiing and alpinism. My family (relative to Aimé Gorret) turned the chalet in a Hotel around 1950.
