By lots of food options. However it was all chain restaurants and a little pricy due to location. I did like the Tesco next door to offset this a bit.

The rooms are quite basic in their set-up, it was budget after all :). That said, the rooms were clean and spacious enough and most importantly the beds were clean and comfortable plus the shower, perfect flow and hot!

An important harbour for centuries, Portsmouth counts with one of the busiest ferry piers in the United Kingdom, has the oldest dry dock still in use in the world. Its Historic Dockyard is home to famous British ships like Lord Nelson's flagship HMS Victory, the Mary Rose and the HMS Warrior.
In the picturesque Old Town you’ll find typical English pubs, coloured houses, and small independent shops. It also has a Fish Market provided by the city’s small fishing fleet. In Old Portsmouth is possible to find smaller hotels, B&B’s and guest houses, some of them not far from the ferry harbour.
The Gunwharf Quays are a modernly renovated shopping area, home to the Spinnaker Tower, while the centre has an ever-growing number of shops. Don’t miss Commercial Road and the Cascades Shopping Centre. Hotels in Portsmouth’s city centre allow you to be close to everything what the city has to offer.
For relaxing moments, Portsdown Hill allows panoramic views over the city and the Isle of Wight. During summer, its sandy beaches are a must.

The coastal area is nice to walk along. The Mary Rose & Victory Museum are very good.
Portsmouth city centre is dull, lacking greenery or planters, many shops are empty. It is not an attractive city centre!
There is a statue of Charles Dickens in the Guildsquare otherwise the area is grim.

The attraction was the harbour.
The attraction was the harbour. The ticket was expensive but well worth it. The Mary Rose Museum was phenomenally good - exciting, imaginitive and caught the attention of grandparents, parents and children alike. The Victory was almost equally good and the guides there were exceptional. We also visited the Warrior where the guide took over explaining to the children, told us an immense amount but also had us all in fits of laughter. Strongly recommended for all ages
We also very much enjoyed Portchester castle and the exhibition on the prison there (and the cafe in the church.

I come to Portsmouth regularly, a very clean city and friendly people, full of history especially naval, lots to do and see, lovely pubs and restaurants, Southsea is a must, good bus service plenty of good hotels, I'd recommend the Spice Island in old Portsmouth and the Ship Anson in The Hard Old Portsmouth is worth visiting
The location was fantastic, only 5 minutes walk to the beach and even closer to the restaurants, plus only a 9-minute drive to Portsmouth Old Harbour. Despite that, the room was quiet and calming, and the bed is comfortable You could have a really good night's sleep. The owners understand what families need! There is a clean communal kitchen, so you could buy takeaway and dine in the sanctuary of the hotel, avoiding the crowds in the restaurants. The decor of the bedroom was pleasant, too.
Location brilliant in Gunwharf Quays for access to the many shops and food places serving outside. 5min walk to Naval Dockyard and although not needed as on business, bus station and Portsmouth Harbour station adjacent to Gunwharf for access to area. Efficient welcome and felt covid secure. Room comfortable and clean with tea/coffee. Breakfast served with good choice hot or cold options for room consumption. Free parking for 24h in Gunwharf car park included in rate which useful.
A large hotel and restaurant situated in a great location - particularly handy if you are catching a ferry from Portsmouth. The room was warm, quiet, and clean with TV and tea and coffee making facilities. There is a cheap but decent restaurant attached, and the full English breakfast was excellent. The staff were all very friendly and helpful and there were CCTV cameras watching over the large attached car park.
Apparently I had the biggest room in the hotel. It was totally awesome for the price--absolute luxury. An added bonus for an extended stay is a full kitchen to use, and a nice living room to socialize. There was a problem with my fob key but not only did the manager contact me but he made the kind and generous offer to refund 20.00 £ as a courtesy. The staff are very kind.
The hotel has parking permit for the guests.
It is easily reachable with busses from "the Hard" bus and coach station.
A taxi took around 8£ midday price.
There is a wide well litt lounge and the place as a whole has a cosy feel about it.
I will definitely return should I come to Portsmouth again.
Recommended.
Very convenient for Portsmouth Harbour, the station and ferry, the bus terminus & Gunwharf Quays and historic dockyard. Very efficient check in, no fuss or bother & you can buy a breakfast if you need one in the morning. The bar is next door if you wish to buy a drink. Good tv too…
Perfect location for our one night stay in Portsmouth. We walked home quickly after a day of shopping at Gunwharf quays and then took the catamaran to isle of wight the next day from Portsmouth Harbour. The apartment was large and comfy. We used the kitchen for dinner.
Hotel was clean and comfortable, with private, secure parking (and public parking close by if necessary). Staff were very friendly and welcoming. The location is fantastic for the Historic Dockyards and Old Portsmouth, Gunwharf Quays.
Almost every aspect of the hotel is outstanding - position on the seafront, elegance of the building, comfort of the rooms, excellence of the restaurant, courtesy and friendliness of the staff. But there is just one exception.
Good cheap no frills budget hotel, close to town and all amenities.
5mins walk to the square tower in the heart of old Portsmouth.
Thin walls and noisy doors but overall good on a budget to see Portsmouth and Southsea.
price good for the quality of the hotel, nice and complete breakfast also gluten and lactose free.
guys at receptions were all nice and they changed me room because I wanted a double bed room .
Very good location - 10min walk to the Gunwharf Quays and dockyard. 2min walk to city centre and some bars.
Hotel was clean and modern. Nice selection of drinks at bar and very relaxed
The location is perfect if you want to be near the Portsmouth naval museum. Don't expect this to be like staying in a modern concrete block hotel. This is an old beautiful hotel.
The Hotel is close to the Hovercraft station, Gunwharf Quays & Portsmouth Town centre. We didn't move the car for 4 days as walked or used public transport.
Staff were very friendly and welcoming, room was very clean, breakfast good quality products and hot. Hotel very close to portsmouth harbour boat museum.
