I lived on the condado for 5 years from 1972-1977, while my Dad was stationed in Old San Juan.
It was exactly how I remembered it, beautiful people, beautiful weather, beautiful city, beautiful beaches... but just a little more built up. I've been to Turks and Caicos, Bermuda, and the Bahamas (more than once) and they are all beautiful!
But San Juan/PR in general has so much more to offer with regards to history, tours, adventure, shopping, or relaxation for ALL ages!!

Old San Juan is beautiful; however, over run with tourist.
Old San Juan is beautiful; however, over run with tourist. We were warned of "creative driving" -- yup, have to agree. Finding parking is near impossible. Streets are narrow. Found some great beaches. Delicious seafood.

Enjoyed San Juan. Touring the old Castillo's. We found a lovely restaurant in Old San Juan. We went snorkeling in Escambron beach. Pleasant relaxing trip. A gentle breeze kept things from getting too hot. Rain sometimes. Wonderful walking area on the Castillo and shore.

Highlight of my stay at Hotel de Mar was being able to get a good walk on the beach across the street before getting a connecting flight the next day. I would return to this location. I did not need to get a meal and brought my own food for breakfast. I might avoid arriving in the dark next time late at night, but that is when my flight arrived and I found Hotel de Mar to be a wonderful place to stay.

Though we liked where we stayed, we would have been better staying in old san Juan. We did not rent a car and since not see the need, as you can Uber or taxi around. Parking not an easy task, thought thetebwas a large parking lot where we were dropped off. We really did not see the need for a car at all. Loved walking lots of interesti6 history there.
Spent the whole day at dirt and castle and then a delicious meal at a whole in the wall restaurant Rincon de paco. Lots of things to do there. We xoukd have spent a few more days around. Bought candy by the Portland enjoy the sunny day. Just make sure ti have comfortable shoes, water, sunscreen and a hat.

Have been to San Juan before. Very nice city and old town.
Have been to San Juan before. Very nice city and old town. Would be glad to go back, but not to the hotel we stayed in, the AC Condado hotel, which is a total rip off. So, try to book in the old town.
The room was spacious and the furniture was well placed to maximize the space. The bathroom was nice with modern touches, like the touch lights on the mirror.
The breakfast was good with the omlettes made to order by the friendly chef.
All the staff were friendly and helpful.
The hotel was in a great location being just walking distance from the convention center, and a short drive to the cruise port and airport and Plaza des Americas.
There was a shuttle that took you Old San Juan. That was really great.
First class hotel, steeped in history, with a beautiful courtyard patio with two restaurants and bars. The location was perfect - we could walk to anywhere we wanted to go in Old San Juan on charming cobblestone streets. Our room was huge, with windows that opened out onto the plaza, which was always fun to observe. Food, drinks and service in the hotel was top rate. The daily wine and cheese reception was great, and we tried to make it each day we were there.
The location was perfect, Condado area is very nice with a lot of options for dining and partying. The hotel has free sunbeds and umbrellas for its guests on the beach which is great, and you also get a towel from the hotel. Beach is within walking distance from the hotel and it`s really nice, though a bit windy and with waves. Rooms are nice and clean, spacious with a lot of amenities included. The room had a partial ocean view which was nice.
Alejandro and Dante were the best front desk i have ever came across. The hotel itself was nice and clean even though the tv remote wouldn’t work and my from was only cleaned once out of my 5 night stay. The location was perfect, down the block from the beach and strip to where all the restaurants were. However, if you want real authentic Spanish food you have to travel to Old San Juan (which is about a 20 minute drive).
It was the best choice to make. We rented for 10 days and it was so neat! We got to see and do so much because we were mobile. We stayed on right on the beach in the rain forest and even in the mountains! We swam at sooooo many different beaches, all of them were amazing! When I come back to PR I will definitely be doing this again!
The staff here was super helpful and friendly, they were willing to help us with our luggage. The location was super convenient while being less crowded than those in Old San Juan area or Condado Beach. We walked to the beach with in 5 minutes. The aesthetic of the design of the hotel was brilliant. We had a wonderful time here.
The architecture and focus on relaxing areas outside of the room was a large bonus during rain events and during times between activities. The forested center of the hotel is a mini oasis in the City. The staff were all friendly and helpful. The inclusion of a coffee hour and wine/cheese hour was a welcome touch.
Really pretty, updated hotel. Staff was amazing! So friendly and helpful. I loved walking to Kasaltas each morning for coffee and a pastry. I felt safe in the neighborhood. It was easy and inexpensive to get an Uber to drive us into Old San Juan. We also booked a rainforest and beach trip through Trip Advisor
Best value we have found in San Juan where we have stayed numerous times and where hotels are generally overpriced and poor. This is the best of its type we have found. Dont be put off by the 3 star rating, This is better than any so called4 star we have stayed at in San Juan. Great overnight hotel.
I searched nomads beach club and looked at the all women’s hostel for my birthday trip to San Juan. 1802 went through a remodel and continues to be the cheapest imo. I went around San Juan as a solo traveler, left my items unlocked at the hostel and nothing was touched!
Room was convenient to the beach and to many great eateries off Calle Loiza. Nice boutique hotel and along with the sister property there’s also a pool available. Highly recommend that you choose this place to stay. Also, incredible value for money!
All the staff were very friendly and attentive to all of my needs. The room and all over the hotel was spotless very clean. Had restaurants and bars at site with great food and drinks will definitely be returning next time I’m in Puerto Rico!
The hotel is modern and sleek, in close proximity to Ols San Juan and all the historic sites. Ubers on the island are extremely cheap, so to get from the airport was $10, and to the very furtherest point in Old San Juan was only $5.
The hotel's location is great, right next to the beach and local spots. The ride from airport was quick and fairly priced. Uber to Old San Juan was cheap and quick. The room was big enough for 2 people.
The location was great, close proximity to Old San Juan and the airport. We had breakfast one day at the hotel and it was decent. And dinner one day by the pool and that was good too.
The best part about this hotel was the front desk staff, especially the shift at midnight. We got there and we were assisted way beyond expectation or requirement.
