San Cassiano is the best ski area in the Sella Ronda area - sunny all day, great pistes, empty lifts. If you want to go to Marmolada, you can go directly from San Cassiano to Arabba (without Corvara - saving time). Another nearby area I recommend is Alta Badia and Colfosco (no super ski pass required). If you go to Sella Ronda, I recommend visiting Pass Pordoi (2950m) - comparable views as from Marmolada, no queues, few people.

The Alta Badia area is in my opinion the most stunning place i have ever skied. It is not good for experts but if you are like me and been skiing for 40 years then perfectly prepared long blue runs are ideal .The Hidden Valley run is a must do - the only problem there is having to stop and take your gloves off every couple of minutes to take a photo as every corner gives you a new stunning view.

A great place for skiing with a family.
A great place for skiing with a family. An incredible selection of all types of slopes and minimal queues at the lifts. We appreciated the ski bus from the apartment to the slopes. I only missed an option for night skiing.

Nothing of historical architectural merit.
Nothing of historical architectural merit. Nice position overlooking the valley and mountain tops.
Artificially created expensive holiday village that was a little clinical if not completely charmless. Nothing old, natural or of local character here but OK for a touring base for those without budget concerns.
Very friendly and helpful staff . Gave a lot of tips for our trip . Great breakfast, lots of fresh fruits. Convenient location to the gondola (5 minutes easy walk through the scenic town, even quicker without skis, a lot of people were just walking around the town to take in the views.
(We left our skis at the ski service at the bottom of the gondola to get waxed so we won’t have to carry them back and forth, lots of ski rentals too at the bottom of gondola)
The location is superb as it is equidistant from the walking street and ski lift in this lovely village in this most beautiful ski area in the world. 3 minute walk to a ski hire shop and 1 more minute to the lift-heaven ! Good restaurant/pizzeria literally opposite the apartment. Parking on site in an underground garage with lift access to the room. The host Anna Marie is a gem, extremely helpful before and during our trip giving excellent detailed advice .
Plang Farmhouse was a gem of our trip and it’s a great place for exploring Dolomites (or at least the area around - unless one likes driving through winding roads). It’s absolutely lovely, great staff and service, rooms are impeccable, very very clean, beautiful location. Sauna was an absolute hit for us (arrange it in advance with the reception for an extra fee, though very reasonable). I could imagine it’s equally perfect for skiing. Highly recommendable.
The hotel was rated 3* but the quality of the food, service and room were above expectations. We have stayed in many hotels in the Dolomites of this rating and this was one of the best. We normally drive to reach the starting point for walks but used the bus which stopped a 5-10 minute walk away. This was much more relaxing than driving up the Valporola Pass. Having a beer after a long walk while waiting for the bus was a highlight of the holiday.
This was the highlight of our trip to Dolomites. The view from the hotel is amazing. The smell of fresh wood everywhere in the hotel is so nice. Big nice pool and jacuzzi. The afternoon snacks were delicious, so was the breakfast. The staff is very nice, the reception was always smiling and making us feel welcomed. It was a nice stay overall, worth the 5 stars.
Good communication with the owners. Super kind family & staff. Very accommodating. The studio apartment was very nice - felt more like a one bedroom rather than a studio. Kitchen was well equipped. Was not expecting daily cleaning, so that was a nice service. Fantastic location, very close to the ski slopes. We would certainly stay here again!
Room was spotless and well designed. All elements of the room worked properly. Drying rack on my balcony was a nice touch. My room was spacious and quiet as well. They'd even turned off the bell on the elevator, which was outside my door. So it never disturbed my sleep. The family running the hotel works very hard. Breakfast was fantastic.
Location is perfect, right in the middle of San Cassiano. The rooms are absolutely grand and look out either over the mountains or the main street.
Dinner was superb with starters, three courses and salads. The breakfast was absolutely fantastic too, especially the freshly baked goods from the adjoining bakery
Quiet place, but close to connecting road, so that you can quickly reach famous tourist routes. Nice appartement, stylishly fournished. Very comfty beds. Small kitchen with everything you may need during your stay. Caring hosts. Convenient parking nearby in the shadow of trees. Fully recomend.
We loved the setting. Took a back room facing the pine forest and the nearly 10,000’ peaks behind us. Our spacious room had a deck with table and chairs. Loved the sauna and accessories! Friendly staff.
The hotel was amazing ... the rooms perfect for our family, and the accessibility to all the skiing necessities was perfection. The spa. the sauna, drinks before dinner ... faultless the whole trip!
Perfectly located hotel, amazing service and all in all beuatiful experience. The hotel spa is a little jewel. And the shuttle skibus to and from the Sorega lift during winter is a great help.
